Meet the RaceVoice Team
RaceVoice was conceptualized, designed, and built by racers for racers. The RaceVoice team combines decades of experience behind the wheel and on the track, with technical knowledge and business acumen to create a product that benefit all racers – from those just learning to find the apex, to those wanting to capture and master thousandths of a second off their times.
The original idea and design for RaceVoice began as the brainchild of Steve Spano. Steve was new to racing, had all this data, but his performance was mixed and inconsistent. He needed a better way to help him understand the data and apply it to what he was doing on the track. So he took his 20+ years of experience with hardware and software development to create RaceVoice. His design emulates what professional race teams spend thousands of dollars doing, in a small box every performance driver can utilize. Steve is also the Owner and Principal Consultant for Finger Lakes Consulting in Dryden, NY. He is a proven inventor, currently holding eight patents.
When Jim Regan asked Steve Spano about a box he spotted in his racecar, he immediately recognized what the prototype for RaceVoice could become. That event set in motion fifteen months of collaboration on the prototypes features and design. Jim is well versed in applying technology as he also founded and owns a software business specializing in Municipal Software Applications. As a software engineer and designer he understands how technology can not only be applied, but also used for competitive advantage. Jim’s racing background includes 30 years in Formula Vee (FV), 6 years in Spec Racer Ford (SRF), and 4 years in Spec Racer Ford Gen3 (SRF3). Along the way Jim has won multiple Regional Championships and continues to compete in road racing events at the Majors level in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).
David Auer spent 38 years in the downhill ski industry, the last 11 of which he served as President and CEO of Fischer Sports USA LLC where he was responsible for US sales, marketing and distribution of Alpine and Nordic ski products with 600 dealers in 900 locations nationwide. Raised on the ski slopes of upstate New York, he started skiing competitively at age 8 and was a champion downhill skier well into his 20s. Prior to Fischer he was with Dynastar/Lange US (division of Rossignol Group), first as Director of Marketing and then as Senior VP of Sales and Marketing. He ultimately sold Fischer Sports US to Fischer Skis Austria Gmbh.
In the late 80’s Dave raced in the Skip Barber Formula Ford series. He then went to Canada and raced F2000 earning a spot on the podium time after time. “I then got married, had our first child, ran out of money and stopped racing.” In 2003, Dave stepped back behind the wheel competing in a Spec Racer Ford GEN3 in the SCCA Hoosier Super Tour and Majors events.
For the last seven years he owned Hooked on Driving (HOD) in the Southern States Region and then formed his own HPDE Company, PDE (Performance Driving Experience) selling it in Dec. 2017. Dave is married residing in Charleston, SC and has three beautiful daughters.
